TASMANIA
Discover the highlights of Tasmania, Australia in this 7-day nature-based tour. Departing Hobart, the tour takes you deep into the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area in the West Coast. Tall trees, rainforests, and waterfalls are just some of the highlights of this remote region of Tasmania. The alpine mountain scenery of Cradle Mountain is world-class, and you’ll be amazed by the pristine coastlines at the Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay. AFCA is teaming up with Steep Adventures for this Climb Up Tasmania adventure which is suitable for all levels of walking/hiking.

Climb Up: Kilimanjaro pairs the adventure of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with the charitable purpose of helping children with HIV/AIDS, offering participants a life-impacting experience.

AFCA organizes teams with 8 to 12 members to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Hikers experience a journey that takes them through five climate zones and up to an elevation of 19,341 feet.
Each climber raises $8000 with a minimum $4700 going directly to AFCA’s programs.

PATAGONIA
On South America’s southern frontier, nature grows wild, barren and beautiful. Spaces are large, as are the silences that fill them. For the newly arrived, such emptiness can be as impressive as the sight of Patagonia’s jagged peaks, pristine rivers and dusty backwater oases. In its enormous scale, Patagonia offers a wealth of potential experiences and landscapes. AFCA is teaming up with Steep Adventures for this Climb Up Patagonia adventure, taking you on a three-day, 37-mile hike.

Each climber is responsible for their ticket to El Calafate, Argentina (optional group airfare based on number of participants), guide tips, vaccinations (if needed) visa, and passport.

Hiking New Zealand and AFCA are teaming up to take you to explore the Secrets of the South in New Zealand. Take a journey to secret locations where rare wildlife play and exquisite scenery takes over. Enjoy the serenity of beautiful mountain ranges, crystal clear lakes and calm fiords while hiking, kayaking, cycling and camping through the deep south.
Teams with 4 to 10 hikers will experience a journey that takes them through various climate zones

Explore the spectacular Catlins coast, with beautiful beaches, luxuriant rainforest, fossilized trees, and rare species

NEPAL
Are you ready to hike to the Tashi Chime Gatsal Nunnery in the remote peaceful Sherpa village of Bigu, Nepal? It is a wonderful experience and we hope you will join us on this Climb Up Nepal adventure. Once you arrive in Bigu, you can decide if you’d like to rest and relax, reading, knitting, doing yoga, hiking, etc. Or, if you’d like, you are welcome to do things such as:
Minor construction and painting projects
Teaching English
Teaching classes on basic first aid, women’s health, nutrition, hygiene
Providing basic medical care
Helping the nuns with their daily chores like cooking meals, tending the gardens
UPCOMING NEPAL ADVENTURES
PERU
AFCA is teaming up with Steep Adventures to provide you with a phenomenal trekking experience in Peru via the Salkanta Trail. Not as busy as the Inca Trail, with an average of 50 hikers per day, but the scenery is unbeatable! It is simply breathtaking. This 46 mile (74km) hike manages to combine beautiful mountain scenery, lush cloud-forest, subtropical jungle and sights of chinchillas, spectacled bears, and deer. You will have a 360 degree view of the three peaks—Salkantay, Humantay and Pumasillo, followed by a hike to the cloud forest and enjoying the change in scenery with various flowers and native plants.
The final destination, Machu Picchu, the mysterious “Lost City of the Incas”, is reached after a short bus ride from Aguas Calientes, allowing us to view the sunrise over the ruins.

SELF-DIRECTED
What this means is that you set the parameters of the event. The “what, where, when” of the event is determined by you.
You have the freedom to create an event based upon the sport or activity that you enjoy. And, the event can be on the day of your choice, at any location in the world, and at the time of day that works for you.
AFCA supported. AFCA provides event registration forms and sponsor forms. In addition, AFCA staff is available to assist you so that your event is successful.
Your life will be changed as you give of yourself to help children in need of medicine and hope. The lives of the children will be changed as they receive medicine that keeps the HIV/AIDS at bay and enables them to laugh, run, jump, sing, dance and live life fully.
