Medicine
AFCA is committed to providing medical help to children with HIV/AIDS and their families by sending free and new medicine to our partnering hospitals who care for these people. Studies show that treatment programs can succeed even in very poor settings, as long as anti-retroviral medicine is available.
AFCA provides anti-retroviral medicine (first and second line), as well as medicine to combat opportunistic infections, antibiotics and chemotherapy medications. Whatever an HIV+ child needs medicine-wise, AFCA will provide, as long as the child is compliant and takes the medication as prescribed by their doctor.
AFCA receives quarterly medicine requests from our partnering hospitals so that the medicine we deliver is new and fresh, with a long shelf life. We only provide what the hospitals request, making sure that everything is used appropriately.
